NITK Alumni Delhi Meet – 2011 (NCR and North Indian region) In our attempt to reach out to and bring together our large alumni base in the NCR and North Indian region, an Alumni Meet is being organised on 9 April, 2011 at New Delhi. Date : 9 April, 2011 Mr. Bhupal Gopala, President, NITKAA has kindly agreed to preside over this meet. While we do recognise your very busy schedules, please do spare the evening in your calendars to participate at the meet and celebrate the spirit of oneness. For details: Please tweet to any of the following in this site: In the meanwhile we have been receiving many mails & calls from our alumni friends volunteering for the cause and also with many valuable suggestions. While we are deeply moved by these kind gestures and are trying our level best to accommodate each one of these inputs, under the current constraints we might not be able to implement many of them. However, these suggestions could be the basis for our future Meets, where we can expand this format in a practical manner, incorporating all the inputs we received. A good turn-out of Alumni Members in this Meet would impress upon the Governing Council of NITK Alumni Association on the topic of formation of an Alumni Chapter for North India Region. If so, NITKAA North India Chapter Office Bearers could be finalised on this occasion. We look forward for an active participation from all NITK Alumni from this region for the 9th April 2011 Meet, which would pave way for a stronger NITK Alumni network in this region. I just love this
In the name of God, we organize this event to recreate the Magic!!!
hi
let us think on starting a chapter in north, so that we have platform for networking and take advantage of expertize of the members.
Sir I am overwhelmed with your vision & with your kind of encouragement our morales are at an alltime high!!!
I believe with all like minded alumnis here we will definitely form a North India Chapter…
we need people to comment on the improvement of the site, and post their profiles in the site
Sir for this, an exclusive email can be circulated form our alumni websites inviting all…also it should be promoted in all the alumni events & activities…then our fellow alumnis will definitely get active here…
We did send info about this beta site in our last e-mail. Once the reverse sync component is ready, we can send another invite to all members.

Excited to get the news about the meet and looking forward to participate.
Considering the popularity of facebook & twitter, I am unable to understand/appreciate creation of a separate group outside a popular social networking group. This requires another login and another set of username/password for the member and of course development & maintenance resources for the site. Many batches of KREC/NITK have a separate group on facebook already.
Anyways, we had created a dedicated group on facebook by the name ‘NITK Surathkal Alumni – Delhi Chapter’. Currently it has about 21 members of Delhi & adjoining areas in a very short period of time and already interacting well with each other.
May I welcome you to join the group on facebook!
Once you join in, probably I could handover the group to you for managing it.

While we appreciate your idea of using available public domain social networking site facebook (Why reinvent the wheel?), we have strong reasons for starting our own exclusive blog / twitter page.
1. This blog/twitter (Alumni Virtual Club) is only a by-product of our intended larger objective.
2. NITKAA wants our database to be totally under NITKAA control. We necessarily should have back-end access to the database. We wonder, how any one could import (including profile photos) 5240 alumni member records to one or more facebook groups and export these records when required. And we did it here! Pls note, many of these 5240 people might never have visited facebook and may never visit NITKAA Virtual Club too.
3. There is no means of facebook based communication to many of our off-line members who use only e-mails for communication and never login to facebook.
4. NITKAA president has a larger vision to extend this NITK Alumni Club beyond social networking, to a level of entrepreneurial networking where Alumni members can offer/buy products/services/jobs within the Alumni Network. So, this site should be a searchable resource pool. Facebook would be big constraint in this context.
Hope, NITKAA objective and current plan of action is now appreciated.
